So I've got to wonder, does anyone really pay attention to any of the shit I post? I'm thinking that I'm just spinning my wheels and pissing off friends who disagree with me. Anyone?

As I proposed in my last blog, re-instating the draft would be fair. As I said, very few exemptions. Once a student departs high school either by graduating or dropping out he or she would be inducted and sent to basic training for 8 weeks and Advanced Infantry Training for an additional 6 to 8 weeks. Everyone is trained first and foremost as a rifleman and immediately upon graduation is posted to one of the hotspots around the world that the government loves to get involved or meddle in.
During that first posting which would last 18 months, the newly minted soldier would be required to participate on patrols and engage with the enemy in hazardous areas. After serving the required time on the front lines, they would be allowed to return to the rear lines and serve in a support role. No exceptions. Senators and other politicians who love to send other people's kids off to be fodder for the war machine would (one would think) give second thoughts to engaging their own children and grandchildren into the fun and games. Yeah, I know...never going to happen but it's a nice thought. Equality for all; special treatment for none. The war drums are beating across America and Europe in light of the crazy Muslims attack in Paris. ISIS (or ISL or the Taliban or Al-Qaeda) has launched the first phase of ground attacks on civilians and naturally, there is a rallying cry to send troops into Syria and other sandpits across the middle east.
In order to keep it totally fair for all citizens rich and poor, male and female a new set of draft criteria needs to be drawn up. Everyone between the ages of 18 and 35 would be required to serve in the armed forces and will immediately be inducted into one of them after high school graduation. First up: no exemptions for anyone except the totally blind, totally deaf, and the obvious mentally impaired. Physical exemptions would be limited. Bum heart? Not a problem. Light training, healthy food and lifestyle changes and assigned desk duty at the rear. Bone spur on the heal of a foot? Get outta here...to the front lines. Missing a leg or two? No problem, they can be mounted on the turrets to man the light artillery. Sounds pretty ridiculous does it not? Actually, it's really not that crazy. I think I'll smoke a bowl and pontificate about this a little later. I've been thinking about this for some time.
After conducting an exhaustive, in depth, impartial investigation for 11 months, a conclusion was reached by two independent investigators finding that 12 year old Tamir Rice of Cleveland had it coming. Actually, that isn't exactly what they said. What they concluded was that the cop who shot him was justified because the kid had a gun (toy), was black (I just made that part up) and the rookie cop had to make a split second decision (he was in fear for his life, as per usual).
These two separate investigations were conducted by a retired supervisory special FBI agent as well as a Colorado prosecutor. Let's see now, FBI special agent equals cop in my book. Prosecutor? Definitely a cop. And what class, is the usual result when cops investigate cops? I'm sure it's not necessary for me to draw a picture here. Here it is 11 months later and the County prosecutor still won't file charges against the cops. I'm thinking that the "investigation" was and still is nothing more than a charade designed to cover their asses. I know, I know cops have a hard job and dozens of copsuckers will condemn me for making such scurrilous accusations. I've got no problem with giving kudos to "good" cops, problem is there are far too few good cops. When a cop fails to come forward to rat out the bad ones, he automatically becomes one of them. Cops are a necessary evil. No doubt about it, without them society would break down. Problem is, they've forgotten who they work for. Instead of working to gain any respect from society they have looked on us as the enemy (if you're not a cop, you're a suspect). Killer cops though, they have to go. Just watching the political crap going on around us, I find it disheartening. On one side you have a clown car loaded with an assortment of extreme right wing-nuts. And who leads in the polls? Donald Trump. Listening to him and his rants should make folks aware that this guy isn't prez material. The rest of the pack spends time trying to emulate him, denouncing Hillary Clinton and shouting out blather with threats to close down Planned Parenthood.
On the other side we have the Dems with a pretty slim group of talent who've chosen to run. I like Hillary. I think she's just as devious as her husband (2 term president Bill) and seems to cause her own controversies According to the media, The Donald is leading in polls ahead of all his rivals. Hillary is deemed to be the front runner (if not anointed) for the nomination. And because Trump continues to spew out outrageous statements, he gets the news coverage. Bernie Sanders is packing in audiences eager to hear what he has to say, but is being ignored by the press. The "mainstream media" just hasn't caught on that Bernie Sanders is saying stuff that resonates with common folk. I keep waiting for Cruz to drop out but he seems to think that he'll pick up all of Trumps' supporters when Donald is finally exposed as a blowhard in an empty suit. Huckabee? What a joke. Rand Paul? Loser. It's going to be a long year. The chief of police in Seattle fired Cynthia Whitlock from her job as a cop. One may remember the story of a 69 year old combat veteran and retired city bus driver who was arrested while out on his daily stroll. His crime was using a golf club as a cane. The cop alleged that the old dude used his golf club in a threatening way. Jailed, he plead to some lower misdomeanor
We allow the most atrocious lies uttered by political and moral prostitutes to go unchallenged. These lies are endlessly recycled in the commercial media until they become ingrained in the public conscience as truth. Worse than burying our heads in the sand, we bury them up our collective ass. How do you like the view? --Charles Sullivan
"I wouldn't call it fascism exactly, but a political system nominally controlled by an irresponsible, dumbed down electorate who are manipulated by dishonest, cynical, controlled mass media that dispense the propaganda of a corrupt political establishment can hardly be described as democracy either." --Edward Zehr- (1936-2001) columnist
You've really gotta love the idea that there's just a chance (albeit slim) that a Socialist Democrat could be elected president of this dysfunctional country.
Could it really happen? I doubt it. If Bernie gets a little too much attention from the public, rest assured that the powers that be are readying their attacks. I can see it now. Sanders: Socialist or Communist. Beware! Pretty soon you'll be under the hammer and sickle. And blather, blather, blather. I fear that the American public isn't really all that intelligent. Hence the popularity of Trump. President Trump has disaster written all over it but I've reached a point where I think the country deserves a successful business man (as opposed to "W") who has ideas but no details. Perhaps with the advent of a Trump presidency we can put the Tea Party back in the fringe where they belong. |
